| As many of you asked, we are delighted to introduce you to Aurélie, the illustrator of the HEC UK House! | How did you become an illustrator and what’s your professional journey? I became a professional illustrator relatively recently, just over 4 years ago. My path to this career is a bit unorthodox having began my professional life in academia in France. My first career change happened when I moved to London and worked as an editor before joining the British Museum. I'd been painting and drawing on the side for a few a while and was very keen to be working for myself. As some of my illustrations had already had bit of exposure through the work I did for a wine bar - The 10 Cases - and other private commissions, I decided to take the plunge and set up my business. What did you enjoy in the HEC UK House project? I tend to work from photographs and rarely get to meet my clients as most are based overseas so being given the opportunity to meet the team managing the project was really wonderful. It was especially unusual to be taken behind the scenes and access the site I was going to portray. It was so helpful to help me get a sense of the vision for the HEC UK House. What do you enjoy the most in your job? Aside from the obvious creativity that comes with an artistic job, I have to say that what I love most is being my own boss. I genuinely enjoy the autonomy, independence and absolute freedom that come with it. I'm fully responsible and accountable for the business which could be daunting but works perfectly for me. Can you tell us a bit more about your next big project? My next big project I can't actually discuss yet but I'm always working on various things at the same time. At the moment this includes branding/web illustrations for a consultancy, some press/editorial illustrations for magazines and travelling to the USA for the launch of a sustainable luxury brand of baby linen as I designed all their textile patterns. | JOIN THE HEC UK HOUSE CAMPAIGN!
