Christine Roger (H.83)

An HEC Alumna dedicated to public service.

Arriving on the campus after the competition was like changing gears, from knowledge to future profession. It was not easy for me. I felt strongly about public service. So I started an administrative career, as a diplomat on masculine territory – arms control as the Soviet Union was disintegrating. I learned the names of countless Soviet planes, helicopters and infantry fighting vehicles (not countless, in fact – I counted them), which is becoming useful again these days. Afterwards, I discovered Europe and the many different careers you can pursue while staying in Brussels. I read my first Tintin albums in 1983, inspired by the name of our promotion (Adieu Tintin), as Hergé died the year I graduated. I wrote a book about Tintin many years after. This is the unusual gift HEC has brought me.

Contribution à HEC : Studying at HEC, I particularly enjoyed "gestion de production" and "comptabilité analytique" odd choices, I'm sure, but these have structured the way I approach many issues.

In January 2017, an equipment failure caused a significant delay in operations. Edwige googled 3D Printing and had an epiphany: one day, Energy companies will store spare parts as virtual files in a “Digital Inventory” and print them on demand, close to site, to reduce lead time cost and carbon footprint. Edwige is 3D Printing and Digital Inventory Product Owner for TotalEnergies embarked on a quest to make this vision come true and continues every day to develop 3D Printing.
