We stand at the cusp of a world about to be changed forever by advances in AI and digitalization. To better understand the trajectory of these rapid changes, The Luxembourg Mind is pleased to invite you to a panel discussion aimed at discerning the evolving paradigms and challenges ushered in by these advancements.

The panel will delve into three pivotal themes:

  1. Analysis of key global trends poised to disrupt industries and economies along with insights into their business implications
  2. Examination of the ramifications of these trends on our communities in Luxembourg
  3. Exploration of proactive measures to prepare for and capitalize on the forthcoming changes

Emanuele Vignoli - CEO, HSBC

 

Emanuele Vignoli was appointed Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in Luxembourg in March 2022 and is responsible for all of HSBC's businesses on the ground, covering Private Banking and Wealth Management, Securities Services, Corporate Banking and Cash and Liquidity Management. Emanuele joined HSBC in 2005 and worked in a variety of roles, including Managing Director, Regional Head of Global Liquidity & Cash Management for UK & Europe International with direct responsibility of people, P&L, client and risk management across 12 markets. Prior to joining HSBC, he worked for two other global banks, ABN AMRO and Citibank, within their Transaction Banking division covering several management roles in their middle and front office departments in addition to Strategy and Transformation roles. Emanuele has a strong international background and an excellent track record of driving growth and client focus. He has represented HSBC as Non-Executive Director for Vaultex Ltd, one of the UK's leading cash processors and he is currently member of several internal HSBC Boards and Chairman of the ABBL (Luxembourg Bankers' Association) UK/Nordic geographical group. Emanuele holds a post graduate degree in Economics and Banking at the University of Siena (Italy) and Antwerp (Belgium).

Sasha Baillie, CEO, Luxinnovation

Since May 2018, Sasha Baillie is the CEO of Luxinnovation, the Luxembourg national innovation agency. She is also a member of the Coordination Committee of the Ministry of the Economy, which she joined in 2014 as Deputy Chief of Staff and Diplomatic Advisor of the Deputy Prime Minister, following her 20-year career as a Luxembourg diplomat. Within the Ministry of the Economy, Sasha Baillie ran the initiative to reform Luxembourg's economic promotion that led to the creation of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Board in June 2016. She also chaired the Luxembourg Nation Branding Committee until 2019 and steered the work that led to the creation of LuxGovSat in 2015 (a joint venture between the Luxembourg Government and SES) where she served as Chair of the Board. 

 

 

Astrid Wagner, Partner, Arendt & Medernach

Astrid Wagner is a Partner in the IP, Communication & Technology practice area of Arendt & Medernach. She is in charge of specialized areas of the law such as data protection and privacy questions, e-commerce and distance contracts, consumer protection, IT and outsourcing issues, the full spectrum of IP rights (trademarks, patents, designs and copyright), media and telecommunications, advertising, unfair competition and product regulation. Astrid also handles corporate law matters, advising operational companies on their establishment in Luxembourg (including required licenses) and multinational companies on the structuring and financing of domestic and cross-border transactions and corporate reorganizations. Astrid has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 2005. She is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) and of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). Before joining Arendt & Medernach in 2007, she worked for two years as a lawyer in Luxembourg where her practice focused on commercial and corporate litigation. She holds a Master’s degree in law as well as a DESS degree in comparative law from the Université de Droit, d’Economie et des Sciences d’Aix-Marseille III (France).

 

 

Patrick Laurent, Partner, Deloitte

Patrick Laurent joined Deloitte as partner in 2011 and was promoted to the Executive Committee in 2018. Patrick heads the Advisory & Consulting Group (ACG) and is the Firm Innovation Leader. He has extensive experience in shaping and delivering complex transformation programs – especially in Banking and Investment Management. Patrick is recognized for his technical expertise within the Deloitte network of member firms and he has been appointed as EMEA FS Core Technology Leader. He holds a Civil Engineering degree from Université Libre de Bruxelles..

 

 

Moderator: Prashanth Chandrasekhar

 

Prash is the founder of The Luxembourg Mind, board member of the CFA Society of Luxembourg and the INSEAD Alumni Association of Luxembourg. Prash is also the host of the Business Beyond Borders Podcast that explores the dynamic business landscape of Luxembourg. He has over a decade of experience in the banking / consulting industry, and currently helps run an Amazon consulting program that accelerates growth for small and medium enterprises. He holds a BBA from the University of Texas and an MBA from INSEAD.
