Pleasure is said to be hightened by knowledge. A glass of wine tells us its own unique story, represents a particular technique, recalls times past and reveals a process of trial and error inspired by one man’s genius. Art of tasting in contrast to the act of drinking teaches us how to put quality over quantity, and because it stimulates all senses – sound, sight, smell, taste and touch – it is an invitation to hedonism.
We are hence, happy to invite you to our wine tasting event, organized by Sara Feiz, one of the board members of HEC Wine Club and a Wine and Spirit Education Trust diploma holder, on how to taste wine and recognize quality. During this event we will travel around France exploring and enjoying wines from different grape varieties, grown in different climates, that are some of the greatest expressions of these grapes in the world. At the same time, we will try to understand, formulate and communicate the messages from our taste buds in a systematic approach.
We have hand-picked 8 wines from 4 different grape varieties for this night and will compare the wines from the same grape made in a cooler vs. a warmer climate, side by side, to understand better the impact of climate, soil, temperature, viticulture, etc. and how they translates into our tasting expressions. We will also talk about how to evaluate quality of wines that we taste.
