Who hasn't had to deal with a hierarchical superior with problematic behavior, or an employee with irrational reactions? Among the pitfalls and crab baskets, we can find ourselves grappling with narcissistic bosses, malicious counterparts, hyper-stressed colleagues, toxic employees... These are not necessarily enemies, but rather personalities to be managed.

About Cécile Demailly
Cécile Demailly is an executive coach, consultant and facilitator, specializing in leadership and organizational transformation. She speaks from her experience as a middle manager at AT&T, IBM and General Electric. Sharing her passion for prominent themes, she covers leadership wisdom, energy flow, digital technology, neuroscience, sustainability and diversity. Her motto is: “People first”.
In her book “the Middle Manager’s Survival Guide" published at the beginning of the year, Cécile addresses the situations faced by leaders and executives throughout their careers. These can be seen as exacerbated when oneoccupies a middle management position: questioned in recent years, often considered superfluous, middle managers aregoing through a profound identity crisis, and the pandemic hasn't helped matters. Caught between demanding top management and employees in search of meaning and a listening ear, middle managers, in touch with the reality of operations and strategy, remain the best activators of collective intelligence.
