Become a school advisor to accompany HEC students during their internships!

Every year, more than 2,000 students from HEC Paris pursue internships in France or around the world, in large multinationals, SMEs or startups, in finance, marketing, strategy, data analysis, etc.

In most cases, internships go smoothly, but some internships do not go well, and the link with the school becomes invaluable.

Supporting students during their internships is a strong desire of the school, which is why, at HEC Talents, we want to set up a community of school advisors as of spring 2023.

What is your role as a school advisor?

  • Support one or more interns (on the basis of 2 to 3 phone calls per internship, estimated workload of 1.5 hours per internship),
  • Make sure that the internship takes place in the best possible conditions,
  • Be sensitive to the interns’ needs, in a benevolent way, and contact the school in case of any difficulties,
  • Sign the internship contract (‘convention de stage’) as school advisor.

What is not expected in your role as a school advisor?

  • Mentoring (in the sense of what is already done through other support),
  • The school advisor does not play any role in the internship report or the internship evaluation.

A unique experience for everyone:

  1. You as a school advisor: a special opportunity to exchange with our student(s).
  2. Student: Someone to share their experience with, a link with our institution throughout the internship.

If you are interested in the project, or if you would like further information, please complete our form via this LINK.

This large-scale project is very important for our students, and we hope that many of you will join us!

Testimonies

Franck Fournol (H.72) This year, I am Pierre's school advisor. Being an advisor means meeting an HEC student at a certain point in their career, during the internship they are doing, with the unknown, the unforeseen, and the discoveries that this involves. This meeting is based on providing support, an opportunity to exchange and share experiences, potentially rich in interactions and enriching for both parties. A special opportunity to develop a relationship that is neither hierarchical nor emotional, it aims to allow the person concerned to progress on their own, by being a resource for them, in addition to what they have at their disposal within the school. A great program!

Line (MAS Marketing 2022) “During our academic journey, most of us will accept an internship thinking it’s the right one, when in fact it’s just a crucial step towards understanding what you what to do next. Meeting with my school advisor provided me with the opportunity to reflect on my internship, something I would not have been able to do on my own. I greatly appreciated his help as he was able to offer an objective perspective and help me assess what was going well and what could be improved. […] Finally, having my school advisor be there for me throughout the internship proved to be both comforting and supportive. I was in good hands and continue to keep in touch with HEC. […]”
